The governor of Warrap State, H.E. Lt. Gen. Magok Magok Deng, along with his accompanying delegation, arrived in Madhath Ajak, Kirrik Payam of Tonj North County, on a peace and security mission.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Magok expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from the people of Madhath Ajak and urged them to embrace peace and peaceful coexistence among themselves.
In a strict response to the current tense security situation, Governor Magok Magok Deng issued the following orders:
The heads of security organs are tasked with ensuring the implementation of these orders without delay.
In their remarks, both national and state Members of Parliament urged the people to cease hostilities and allow peace to prevail. They emphasized that peace is essential for the delivery of services such as roads, telecommunications, health, education, and agriculture production, which are key to alleviating poverty in the region.
The commissioner of Tonj North County, Hon. Joseph Madut Deng, thanked the governor for his visit during this fragile security period and urged the communities to stop conflicts, giving the government a chance to address the security issues.
Both chiefs and Gelweng leaders applauded Governor Magok for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit Kirrik as his first stop following his recent appointment. They outlined the root causes of the conflict in the communities, which include:
